Alan Millar

Team Consultant

Alan (Dusty) Millar has been working with KB Associates since early 2004.

A qualified IMCA Bell Diving Supervisor, he has wide experience in that role, and also as a Diving Superintendent, Offshore Construction Superintendent and Offshore Project Manager. He is familiar with the requirements of both ROV and Diving activities from DP and moored vessels.

He holds a NEBOSH General Certificate, is a registered OHSAS Lead Auditor and holds a Lloyds Diploma in Marine Surveying, with specialties in both ISM and Warranty Surveying. He has broad experience as a Client Site Representative on ROV, Air and Saturation diving projects, involving both construction and IRM activities. He has carried out a large number of air and saturation diving system audits for KBA Clients, as well as vessel CMID Audits, ROV audits and Company HSE audits.

Alan has also been extensively involved with the department of Air and Saturation Diving Manuals and HSE Manuals, for diving companies, oil companies and local Government Bodies.

Adam is a professional with over 18 years experience in offshore oil and gas, primarily in saturation construction, followed by several years in ROV's on North Sea work-class Inspection and Trenching/Burial operations.

Since Oct 2008 he has been working with KBA as a consultant conducting ROV and Diving system audits, consulting on tender development and evaluations, developing operations manuals and acting as a Client Site Representative on Construction, Intervention, Inspection and Met Ocean projects.

As Adam has worked in the majority of offshore Oil & Gas regions and has lived in Asia for 20 years, he has developed an in-depth understanding of different Cultures and methods of communicating and working with them to achieve harmonious and satisfying results.

He is committed to continually improving his knowledge and skills and currently holds a recent degree in Geographical Information Science (GIS) from Curtin University in Perth, Australia and is a PMI certified associate in Project Management as well as holding role specific qualifications of NEBOSH IGC (HSE) and OHSAS 18001 (IRCA) Lead Auditing.

Simon Turner

Simon has more than 27 years' experience in the offshore oil and gas industry; having originally started his career in the United Kingdom as a civil engineering diver, progressing to become an offshore air and eventually a saturation inspection diver. He is also qualified as a CSWIP 3.4u inspection coordinator - a certification he has held for over 13 years.

In addition to his practical diving experience, Simon has held senior positions within one of Asia's leading subsea service companies, and has considerable insight into the workings of an international organisation, both on the operational and corporate levels; having held positions such as General Manager, Commercial Director and Operations Director, amongst others.

Simon joined KBA in February 2012 as a consultant. After successfully completing a course in OHSMS 18001 (IRCA) Auditing, he has been conducting air and saturation diving system audits on various systems throughout the South East Asia region and in Europe.

Darren is a graduate of Carlisle Technical College in Perth, Western Australia with 27 years of construction/inspection experience (19 years in the subsea industry). He has extensive experience in the offshore diving & ROV industries in all areas of subsea services and techniques including air / surface gas / saturation diving and various types of ROV operations within the offshore oil and gas sector and the inshore civil engineering field. During his time in the subsea industry he has worked as an Air Diver / Saturation Superintendent / Offshore Construction Manager to General Manager of Subsea Operations.

His wide training and education varies from a Trade certificate as a Vehicle Body Builder / Boilermaker for fabrication and welding; IMCA Air and Saturation Diving, CP and Survey Techniques, Non Destructive Testing, Diver Medic Technician, IMCA Air and Saturation Supervisor, Team Leadership, Project Management, ISO Auditor,Contract Negotiation, Financial Analysing, MBA course for Corporate Management, Leadership & Finance, ABS training course for Diving System Classification Requirements, Subsea Tiebacks Field Development & Production Controls Systems, DP awareness course and the NEBOSH International General Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health plus the NEBOSH International Certificate in Oil and Gas Operational Safety.

Darren joined KBA in January 2013 as a consultant. After successfully completing a course in OHSMS 18001 (IRCA) Auditing, he has been conducting air and saturation diving system audits on various systems throughout the South East Asia region and Australia.

Chris Reid

Chris has over 32 years' experience in a technical and operational environment of the offshore ROV industry; having originally started his career in the United Kingdom as a Pilot tech, progressing through the ranks of Sub-Eng, Supervisor to become an offshore ROV/Vessel Superintendent and eventually on to Operations Manager. A resourceful and results-driven manager with many years in a technical and operations environment.

In addition to his practical ROV experience, Chris has held management positions within the Middle East and Asia's leading subsea service companies, and has considerable insight into the workings of an international diving organisation, both on the operational and corporate levels; having held positions such as Operations Manager, ROV manager, ROV workshop Manager, amongst others.

Chris joined KB Associates in 2014 as an ROV systems auditor.

Malcolm Wroe

Malcolm has over 38 years' experience in the offshore diving and subsea construction industry. Initially trained as an air diver and combat engineer in the British military before becoming an offshore air and saturation diver with CSWIP 32.U and diver medic qualifications. He has gained extensive experience in the North Sea as a saturation diver working on DP DSV's and semi submersibles engaged in mostly construction operations. Qualified as an IMCA air and closed bell diving supervisor, he was employed by a major international contractor for a twenty year period during which Malcolm progressed to Diving Superintendent and Offshore Construction Manager on many diving and ROV deep water flexi lay projects.

Malcolm joined KBA as a consultant in 2008 and has since been deployed as a diving advisor for several major operators. He has also carried out several dive system and company management audits after completing the OHSMS 18000 qualification and becoming an IRCA registered auditor.

Barry is an experienced Offshore Subsea Construction & Diving Operations Specialist, with an exceptional level of industry knowledge. Taking up a full-time position with the KBA Team in January 2014, following a successful career in the global offshore oil & gas industry spanning over 30 years, that included over 1800 days of saturation diving experience; and later, positions such as CSWIP 3.4 Inspection Coordinator, IMCA Bell Diving Supervisor, OCM, Offshore Subsea Construction Lead, Subsea Asset Inspection Lead, & IOGP Client Site Representative.

Having a Mechanical Engineering background, and holding an Eng.Tech award in Subsea Engineering, gained at the University of Aberdeen & the Lloyds Maritime Academy of London, along with a broad spectrum of industry related qualifications from IMCA, CSWIP, NEBOSH, IOSH, ISO & ILM, he brings a significant amount of experience and knowledge to the KBA team. Barry is a TechIOSH member, and is a certified IRCA Lead Auditor in various disciplines.

Barry has a multidiscipline function within the KBA group, undertaking roles including Diving (Air and Saturation) Systems Auditor, FMECA technician, Client Work Site Representative, Health Safety & Environmental Consultant / Auditor.
