KBAT Launch the diving bell simulator for IMCA Diver Medic Training - September

After many weeks of planning, shipment, cleaning up and preparing for use the diving bell that has been provided by Global Industries Asia Pacific Pte Ltd  is now in operation for our IMCA Diver Medic courses. The bell was found in the Global Industries Indonesian Batam yard and after discussions with Global Industries regional management it was agreed to be provided for the use of training divers in simulated bell rescue and CPR drills. Located at KBAT’s practical training facility in Changi and now sitting on a purposed built frame allowing access from the bottom door- DMT students practice diver recovery drills followed by CPR drills inside the bell. Initial comments  from the first students to use the bell as a training aid was that the drills and practice provided excellent means to comprehend the requirements and actions from recovering the diver into the bell- removing the helmet and conducting  CPR Drills, while being closely monitored and tutored by the training team.

With the addition of the diving bell this now complements our DDC where full scenarios of Patient transfer, Decompression Illness; Intubation; suturing ; Intravenous Injections; Catheterisation and patient evaluations are carried out in real time environment.

Introducing KBA Engineering Services Pte Ltd (KBAE)

KBA Engineering Pte Ltd (KBAE) has been established to provide engineering services and analysis - KBAE has, since its incorporation some eight months ago, conducted engineering and analytical projects previously carried out by KBA. Environmental Hyperbaric Evacuation System testing using the KBAE developed data logging software system has become one of these established services.  KBAE is not however relying purely on projects of an existing nature and is seeking to gain internationally recognized capacities to perform other works that will broaden its horizon.  To this aim, KBAE have been audited under SAC Singlass in order that one of the proposed services will carry accreditation that will cross international boarders, such as pressure gauge calibration.  Very shortly, we will be in the position to offer accredited calibration services on pressure gauges which will include indication and life support units to an accuracy greater than 0.25% accuracy with full  traceability.  Our plans in the near future are to expand the scope of accreditation so as to ensure that services offered are beneficial to our clients both locally and internationally as well as more encompassing.

In our next news letter we shall expand on this when we expect to be in the position to officially announce the commencement of the accredited service.  We have already begun our set up for further scopes that we expect to bring to the market over the next six months.

KB Access Pte Ltd a Subsidiary Company of KB Associates Pte Ltd has joined the Spirit of Singapore Expedition as the Main Expedition Sponsor.

At KB Associates Pte Ltd social responsibility means taking into account the communities in which the Group operates, and also involves relations with their employees. We are therefore pleased we are able to sponsor this exciting adventure with the expedition team whom Mohd Rozani as the KB Access Senior Rope Access Technician trainer is a member of.

In pursuit of new frontiers this expedition exhibits the spirit of KB Associates and KB Access by seeking new challenges and striving to the highest level of Professionalism and Safety. We are proud to be a sponsor to this expedition.

The “Spirit of Singapore Expedition 2009”, intends to climb several virgin peaks in the Tien Shan mountain range in Central Asia. Stretching across large tracts of China (Xinjiang), Kazakstan and Kyrgyzstan, the Tien Shan range contains one of the highest concentrations of unclimbed peaks in the world. The expedition will focus on peaks in the Sary Dhaz range, a quiet, rarely frequented area, and far from the popular 7000m peaks in the area.

The 2009, the Expedition will not only attempt more virgin peaks than the 2005 exhibition, but will also attempt the first ascent of an unnamed peak, thought to be 5000-6000m in height, which has been dubbed “The Razor” on a prior aerial reconnaissance. This would be highest unclimbed peak attempted by a Singapore team.

Climbing virgin peaks represents some of the boldest and imaginative mountaineering available in the world. It takes the climber into a realm of uncertainty and risk.

KBA and all our staff wish them every success with their ascent of new peaks and a safe return to Singapore in August.
